It IS difficult, as Michael said, to see beyond our own backyards and neighborhood and grasp the reality of the other 99% of the world's population. It's even harder to see how everyday, as citizens and consumers in one of the wealthiest nation in the world, how much influence we truly hold. More information can only serve to help us make better choices each time we are in the checkout line or worrying about our own bottom line.

I think we live in a society that focuses primarily on what's going on in our own lives, backyards and surrounding neighborhoods. We don't realize that major problems are effecting the rest of the world. I think many of us want to help and are always asking how? This is a great opportunity to step up and make a change.

There are so many things us fortunate Americans can do to help out countries that need our help. Many think all we can do is donate money or volunteer, but we have so many more options that we need to educate ourselves and others about. We can make tiny adjustments in our lives to dramatically improve the lives of others who need help the most.

Seriously, rock the vote guys. I never realized how easy it was to register to vote (you can even register on this website!) And now, my opinion matters on EVERY issue out there, and so can yours.
